Grief 101: Updates, Hard Truths, and Myths
April 9 @ 6:30 pm - 7:30 pm
Join us for a webinar titled “Grief 101: Updates, Hard Truths, and Myths”. Grief is a natural and important response to loss, change, or a profound emotional experience. It allows the griever to process emotions, reflect on what has happened, and begin to heal over time. There is no “right” way or timeline for grief—everyone experiences it differently. Whether the griever feels sadness, anger, anxiety, numbness, or even moments of peace, these emotions are valid. Culture, age, and social context all frame our responses to loss so it’s important to allow each griever to feel and to navigate grief in a way that honors that person’s needs. In this webinar, we will discuss some of the less familiar forms of grief (ambiguous, anticipatory, disenfranchised) and address some of the many myths about grief that are deeply held and often detrimental to those who hold those beliefs. There will be time for Q&A at the end.
This webinar will feature Judith L. M. McCoyd, Ph.D., LCSW (PA), associate professor and Associate Director of Doctoral Programs at Rutgers University’s School of Social Work. The webinar will take place on Wednesday, April 9th at 6:30pm Eastern Time. You can register for this webinar using the following link: https://lp.constantcontactpages.com/ev/reg/2zahyd8.
