Nicki F. Coveña has an academic background in psychobiology and molecular neuroscience, specializing in neurodegenerative diseases and developing expertise in cell culture models and molecular techniques. He is currently a PhD candidate at Amsterdam UMC, where he uses human induced pluripotent stem cell-derived models to study the complex role of microglia in ALD. Nicki’s research aims to contribute to and advance the molecular understanding of ALD pathology.
Main Area of Research: My main area of ALD research is on utilizing induced-pluripotent stemcell models to study ALD pathology. With a specific focus on developing a iPSC-derived microglia in vitro model to study how microglia are affected in ALD and to study their role in the development of ALD pathology.
