Dr. Van Haren is a child neurologist and neuroimmunologist at Stanford University School of Medicine. He is the Director of the Pediatric Neuroimmunology and Leukodystrophy Clinic at Lucile Packard Children’s Hospital.
Main Area of Research: The Van Haren Lab is primarily focused on developing new therapies to prevent or halt the cerebral demyelinating form of ALD. We study how and why some boys develop cerebral ALD while others do not. We also use cell and mouse models to study the biological mechanisms that drive the inflammation and injury that characterizes cerebral ALD.
